Dr. Lauren Dyer joined River Oaks Animal Hospital in 2026 after earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to veterinary school, she attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology.
Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Dr. Dyer has always dreamed of living and working along the coast. She is excited to begin her veterinary career serving the pets and families of the Grand Strand and helping strengthen the human-animal bond through compassionate, individualized care.
Dr. Dyer’s professional interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, cardiology, and chronic pain management. She especially enjoys partnering with pet owners to create treatment plans that support both the health of their pets and the goals of their families. Building long-term relationships with clients and watching pets thrive throughout every stage of life are among the most rewarding aspects of veterinary medicine for her.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Dyer enjoys spending time with her husband, Caleb, and her family. Her faith in Jesus is an important part of her life and guides her both personally and professionally. When she’s not caring for patients, you can often find her swimming, scuba diving, kayaking, running, taking photographs, relaxing on the beach, or enjoying a movie night.
A fun fact about Dr. Dyer is that she participated in a veterinary research trip to the Galápagos Islands during veterinary school. One of the highlights of the trip was being surrounded by more than 200 wild dolphins while exploring the islands—an experience she will never forget.
